THE TRACES OF MEMORY

This shop with its "inside" comes from a personal metabolization, from an intensely visceral affection, from these traces in time. The story which has generated this work, from the loving desire of the client,  the craftsmen who worked here and the collaboration of friends, is the slow maturing of an awareness of the project constructed over time. The knowledge of "another Presence", read first as a human figure and then as an architectural space, is the ideal aspiration which designs the space of this shop as a dialogue with this "You" which is existence.
Its disposition is always perpendicular - from the windows to the interior - to the visitor but, like the gaze in Pontormo's Portrait of a Young Man, the backdrop thanks to the rotation of the cube is in tension between it and the observer. The story develops over time and is interwoven, not least, with the character of Florentine entrance halls. As in those the rhythm of light-shade-light is repeated in the development of the shop's depth to create a luminous sequence. The suspense generated by the light of a luminous backdrop inside the heart of a Florentine palazzo, behind its entrance, is one of the unique and precious characteristics of this city which seems so close to those who don't know how to wait. It is the waiting, as if for something or someone which one senses without being able to define, still, patient and suspended in a time without clocks which generates and permits the silent blossoming of that promise of real novelty - hidden from the hurried and greedy glances - which of itself consummates definitively living the moment.

 

LE TRACCE DELLA MEMORIA 

Questo negozio con “dentro” nasce da una personale metabolizzazione, dalla digestione fortemente affettiva, di queste tracce nel tempo. La storia che ha generato quest’opera, attraverso la cordiale volontà della committenza, degli artigiani esecutori e di alcuni amici collaboratori, è la lenta maturazione di un’autocoscienza progettuale costruita nel tempo. La coscienza di una “Presenza altra”, letta come figura umana prima e come spazio architettonico dopo, resta il termine ideale che disegna lo spazio di questo negozio quale dialogo con questo “Tu” che è l’essere.
La sua disposizione è sempre perpendicolare - dalla vetrina all’interno - al visitatore ma, come nello sguardo de Ritratto di giovane del Pontormo, il fondo è, grazie alla rotazione del cubo, in tensione rispetto a chi osserva. La vicenda si sviluppa nel tempo, e a questa si interseca, non ultima, il carattere degli androni fiorentini. Come in quelli il ritmo luce – penombra - luce viene reiterato nello sviluppo di profondità del negozio creando una sequenza luminosa. La sospensione generata dalla visione di un fondo luminoso dentro il cuore del palazzo fiorentino, dietro uno dei suoi androni, è uno dei caratteri più singolari e preziosi di questa città apparentemente chiusa a chi non sa attendere.
E’ proprio l’attesa, come di qualcosa o qualcuno che si avverte senza riuscire a definire, ferma, paziente e sospesa in un tempo senza orologio, che genera e permette il dischiudersi silenzioso di quella promessa di novità reale - nascosta agli sguardi affrettati e rapaci - che sola compie definitivamente il vivere l’istante.
