A NEW CONCEPT OF DESIGN SCHOOL

The characteristic of these courses is that theory is combined with practice on real jobs site.

  

WHAT WILL I RECEIVE AT THE END OF THE COURSES?

At the end of the professional courses, there is a final exam and students who pass will receive a Master's certificate and a Certificate of Professional Practice with the number of hours.

The type of Certificate is different in order to the number of mounths ( short course) , years ( Masters) and hours ( workshop ).

At the end of the International  Architectural Lab and  Interior and Furniture Design Lab, students will receive a Certificate of attendance.

 

DO I NEED A DEGREE TO APPLY FOR YOUR COURSES?

No, you don't, this is not an exclusively postgraduate course but a professional course. Students do not need to be enrolled in any other university beacuse our course it works as introduction to real exeperience of work.

 

DO I NEED A STUDENT VISA?

For EU students the visa is not required. For NON EU students, the visa is required. To apply for a Visa, a checklist of all the required documents is available on the official Ministry of Foreign Affairs website at the following LINK

Students should present all the documents at the Italian Consulate in their place of residence. Some consulate take from 2 to 8 months prior to the start program.The school advise students to contact as soon as possible the consulate and check all the documents needed (in some cases the student  will need a declaration of value for the previous studies, or other documents, that can take long period for verification and release). The school will provide the students a letter of acceptance for the period which are applying for and only when the enrollment fees are paid.

 

Costs: The Visa cost varies to country of origine. For longer periods students will need to apply for resident permit upon arrival in Florence. This will be billed separately, approximate: 80,00 euro + insurance cost

CAN I BRING A LAPTOP COMPUTER?

Yes, you need to bring your laptop computer for rendering, modeling, drawing and other private studies. We advise the students on the Interior Design course to purchase PCs with 64bit windows 7 or 8 operating systems, i7 processors, and at least 4GB RAM.

 

WHAT COURSES DOES THE SCHOOL PROVIDE?

Intarnational Master interior Design of 1 or 2 years which can be divided into two years long courses and the students can follow them for as long as is desirable or necessary.

Professional Master of Architecture of 1 year or Dual Master of urban and street design on real works.

Short Professional courses which can be from one to three months.

Workshops: every month for one or three days we visit and design in historical cities primarily in Italy but also Spain, France, Greece, and Switzerland.

 

CAN I VISIT OTHER ITALIAN CITIES?

Inside our visits program, we have different cities in Italy. You can ask us for the program from  star@florencedesignschool.com

Moreover, we visit the best design exhibition in Milan as well as the Ferrari museum and other interesting company design locations.

 

MAY I HAVE ACCESS TO THE  INTERNET?

You can connect to the Internet at any wireless access point.

 

HOW DO I FIND A PLACE TO LIVE?

we suggest you spend your first nights in Florence in a hostel or hotel ( and we enclose a list for your information) while you look for an apartment. A single room in a shared apartment will cost from 450/750 euro per month, an independent apartment will cost from 850/1350 euro per month. These prices are indicative according to size and location.

 

 

WHAT IS THE COST OF LIVING IN FLORENCE?

The living expenses depend on, who much person is used to spending and the lifestyle he has.  The average cost of living varies from 300-600 euro per month for food and other expenses(excluding accommodations).

Here is some info :
Dinner out with friends: 15-45€ conservatively;

Cooking at home: The monthly price for 3 meals a day 7 days a week around 150€;

cinema: 10€; Theater ticket: 20-45€ and Exhibits: 5-15€;  Hairdresser/cut and dry: 30-70€ ;
